The Fading Memories

Movie Review : 《靈聼》Ghost on Air

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 / 12:40 AM

After work Baby and I we took a taxi to Shaw Center and we were early so we decided to grab dinner first. I wanted to eat Spicy Nuggets from McDonalds again (: After dinner we rushed back into Shaw Center and took the lift to level 13 where we had to register before entering the Preview Hall. But we were too late and most of the seats were taken up and all that was left were the first 2 rows. Yes we sat in the 2nd row from the front!

About the movie: A Radio DJ driven to desperation, resorts to telling ghost stories on air, but what if the stories were all not fiction? “Ping Xiao, a two time “Most Popular DJ” award winner, is suddenly robbed of his successful morning show slot. Jealous at seeing a younger DJ taking his place, he forces himself to conquer painful recurring memories of his deceased girlfriend and tells the ghost stories that was written by her on air. With each painful memory he endures, he regains a small step to his superstardom. However, as he is about to claim his reward, he begins to realize that the stories were not works of fiction, and maybe it wasn’t him telling the stories all along…”

My Opinion: To my utmost horror the film was super scary! Maybe to some people they might not think that it's scary but I was terrified. Basically hiding under my bf's hoodie. Baby thought otherwise, not spooked about it at all. To tell you the truth, I love ghost stories, whether your telling them to me or if i'm reading it off the internet. But i'll get spooked about it if it's night time or i'm alone in a room or with my dogs and they're staring off into thin air with nothing there. But not to the extend that i'd get a nightmare!

If you love local films and ghost stories than why not watch 《靈聼》Ghost on Air. Support our local film director/makers, your killing two birds with one stone.

The sound effects and the suspense will kill you.. especially when you're watching it from the 2nd row. I thought it was not bad for a local production, definitely scary on my end.

At the end of the preview we had a Q&A session from the director from Merelion Pictures. He answered quite a number of questions but I can't seem to remember any of it. Quite a shame would have been nice to write some down.

Want it to be really scary off the lights and watch the trailer

Movie Review : The Lorax

Tuesday, March 6, 2012 / 8:40 PM

About the movie: From the creators of Despicable Me and the imagination of Dr. Seuss comes the 3D-CG feature The Lorax, an adaptation of the classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler. Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic youth who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Audrey, the girl of Ted’s dreams. Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.

My thoughts: If you're a big fan of animation, or loves to watch a movie with lots of laughs than this would be a great movie with a touching story line. It's for all ages - young & old. It made my boyfriend and I laugh throughout the movie. Out of the whole movie I liked Betty White as she portray Ted's Grammy Norma. A down to earth grammy with a bit of mischief who helps her grandson achieve something impossible to do in Thneedville.

We were told to bring moustaches to the event, so I printed 2 of it out and started making amendments to it. But we missed the photo session as we were running late from catching the bus from our workplace. In the end we just ended up taking a picture of ourselves in them, even though we looked silly.

Movie Review : Immortals

Friday, November 18, 2011 / 12:08 AM

About the movie: Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s

conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders—including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff)—one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.

My thoughts: I quite like the movie even thought it had so much blood in it, maybe cringe to some of the scenes. But if you like the movie 300, blood, sweat and an interesting storyline, you are bound to love this movie. There are some hot bods in the movie, so don't worry girls there are some nice eye candy for you out of all the fighting and blood (: I would recommend those who have not watch this movie to go see it!

Thank you omy.sg for the preview screening (:
